Things I want to accomplish this summer...
1) Pay off at least one of my credit cards, cancel it and cut it up. (They make it really difficult when they insist on raising my credit limit.)
2) Lose 10 pounds and get toned before my brother's wedding in June and continue an exercise regimen afterward. (What? Don't look at me like that; I'm no different than anyone else.)
3) Call my family and friends more often. (I have unlimited night and weekend minutes; why haven't I been taking advantage?)
4) Avoid all types of unhealthy relationships. (That includes dating and friendships. I know this is vague but I think everyone who actually reads this blog knows what I'm talking about.)
5) Apply for at least one new job every week until I get an interview and get hired by an employer who appreciates me. (Being able to move for a new job without hesitation is a perk of being young and single.)
I finished reading this book called "The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing." In it, the main character learns through a series of relationships that all she should have to be is herself. She tried being mysterious and playing games, (that's where the fishing and hunting reference come in) but she ends up almost losing the man she loves because of it. (I say almost because she doesn't lose him and the book ends on the typical "happily ever after" note.)
Don't get me wrong. I'm happy for people who are happily in love. I'm just torn between what kind of endings books should have. A book can help you escape from your daily life so a nice and neat little ending that ties up all loose ends is great. On the other hand, a book should be realistic but that would mean every story can't have an ending that answers every question. Does that make sense? Ultimately, I guess it depends on your mood. I know I’m probably overanalyzing, but I was recently reminded that being single is always better than being in a bad relationship. As much as I complain about not having someone to whisper to or cuddle with, I can live without it for now. I’ve got more important things to accomplish.
