O Farewell Sweet Contributors!

In another period of our lives, several years ago, a group of girls created Writers Bloc 3 as a way to share experiences and daily insights with our families and friends. No two ladies are the same, but we all crossed paths in a small South Carolina town and our experiences there - for better and worse - connect us for the rest of our lives. Once we started moving on to new jobs, new homes and new experiences, everyone had a hard time posting on a regular basis so our group blog became obsolete, at least for original intentions and purposes.

That is the short explanation for why Writers Bloc 3 hasn't been updated in years. And I am moving on yet another blog, this one just for me. But first, I must pay tribute (or penance) to those lovely ladies. Change the girlfriend/boyfriend situation to make it relevant for the Sister Circle, and the video below accurately describes my feelings. It’s been fun ladies!

Home is where the curtains are...

Tasha, the domestic goddess, finished the curtains for our dining room and kitchen, and they look great! Getting the curtains done and up was sort of the last big step in getting the apartment decorated and all "homey."

Yeah, I said it...we're hot!

Tash and I did a little unplanned shopping today, and came back with these hot little numbers--Tasha with her little Charlotte from "Sex in the City" number and me in my Marilyn Monroe halter. Yes, we probably didn't need to spend money on cute dresses--but...we do look cute!

And, we did exert a little willpower. Tasha found a pair of knee-high, kick-ass chic black boots with 3-inch heels that would go great with her corset, but she stayed strong (although she would accept donations for a later purchase) and I turned down a cute pair of shoes that were $20 and opted for an $8 pair instead. 'Course, Tasha did also buy some cute lacy undies, but they were cheap! Although she did mention she wasn't going to pose in those for this blog...

Let there be art...

Tasha and I have been staring at a blank wall above our fireplace for more than two months now, trying to figure out what to put there. We went online about a month ago looking for large art prints that would work, but then decided we were too poor for that. At one point we were talking about painting something ourselves--but then we decided we were also too poor for that (who knew paint and canvas were so expensive???) and that we were definitely way too untalented for that.

So I'd been thinking maybe I could take some kind of abstract photo and use that. Then, while we were on our trip south, Tasha and Caroline both bought these beautiful glass witch's balls. I was sitting on Caroline's couch, playing around with my camera and looking up at the slowly spinning ball with swirls of light blue and inspiration struck. So I snapped a few pics, then later took some photos of Tasha's multi-colored ball. I took the pictures, played around in Photoshop a bit, and eventually came up with something I liked, then got it printed poster size. We now have art, and our apartment finally looks somewhat decorated. Now all we need are curtains. Let us know what you think...

Back Together Again!

It's a week late, but Misty and I had a great time last weekend in Greenwood. We got to see the girls, drink, eat, dance a little (me anyway) and visit some favorite spots. We stayed with Carolina and Piglet. I had a Dixie Chesseburger with Fries from Dixie's Drive-In, and a bucket of beer at Sports Break. What's better than that!? I even bought some stuff at an art gallery. It was a lot of fun, and it was so good to see the girls. Caroline hosted a shindig Saturday night for us, and a lot of people made it. A few, whose names we will not mention, said they would but didn't. Very disappointing. Maybe next time. (Pictured L to R: Caroline, Misty, Kathryn, Me, Lorrie and Joanie.) Anyway, I know I'm not very good at posting but I'm going to try and be better. Hint... hint... to the other girls.

Coming to Town

Okay, I know Tasha and I are the only ones who are ever on here anymore, but JUST IN CASE anyone else is actually looking at this, Tasha are coming to Greenwood in two weeks!!! Yay!!! Reunion time!

We fought the sectional and the sectional (almost) won

This, ladies and gentlemen, is a battle scar--the remnants of a long night spent cursing U-Haul and heavy sectional sofas. Yes, this is Tasha's arm--or what's left of it, after we finally got the @*%?ing sofa out of the *&#!ing U-Haul truck, right about 4 a.m. Saturday.

Yes, we were moving at 4 a.m. That's because when we picked up the truck at 6 p.m. Friday, we were casually informed that the truck had to be back at 8 a.m. the next day. Nice of them to mention that you can't get a 24-hour rental on the weekend when I made the reservation online, or one of the multiple times I had to call them to see when I could pick up the truck. So, after picking up a sectional sofa I bought off Craig's List, with some help from the woman I bought it from, then fueling up with some Mexican (maybe not the best idea?), Tasha and I set to work loading up all of our stuff (mostly mine, since she's traveling light these days) into the truck. By 11:30 p.m., we were loaded and ready to go--halfway there.

We then spent the next three hours unloading everything that we had just loaded. Needless to say, the later it got, the slower we moved, and the more breaks we took. Finally, about 3 a.m., we had everything out. Well...almost everything. Still sitting in the back of the truck was the three-piece sectional sofa. The sectional sofa that three of us had moved earlier, with A LOT of effort, and before moving everything we owned within the span of six hours. And, oh yeah, one end of the sectional is a sleeper sofa (i.e., lots of heavy metal) and the other end is two recliners (i.e., lots more heavy metal). If you've ever felt total defeat, you know how we felt looking in that truck at that moment. Still, we knew we had no choice but to forge on. So we steeled ourselves up for the long battle ahead. Here's how the fight went:

Round One: Misty v. The Sleeper Sofa. Winner: Misty, by a hair. After wrestling the sofa onto the dolly, we headed for the ramp. With Tasha risking life and limb guiding the sofa from below, I was using every last available muscle fiber pulling against gravity to keep the beast from barreling down onto poor Tasha. In the end, we arose the victors.

Round Two: Tasha and Misty v. The Corner Piece. Winner: The tag team, easily. Ha! Looking back, The Corner Piece was a piece--of cake! Well, not really, but comparatively speaking...

Round Three: Tasha v. The Recliners. Winner: Tasha, after a hard-earned comeback. Take Round One. Reverse the roles. Remember that Tasha's reserves have already been depleted by the first two rounds. She took some hits, but it was by sheer will and determination that Tasha staged one of the greatest comebacks of our time, and kicked The Recliners' collective asses.

Despite the rocky all-night move, things are going well now. We love the new place, especially our super-sized bathrooms, and we spent the whole weekend unpacking and shopping for apartment stuff. We're still in transistion, but once we get unpacked and a little more settled, we'll have a photo journal to come.
