The irrational fear of the day is…

My always-too-long pants getting caught in the escalators at the library. Its big metal jaws would grab onto my ankle when I’m not looking and then chew off my leg. It doesn’t matter to me that there is an emergency button; I take huge steps on and off the damn things. No one has yet to laugh outright, but I do get a few strange looks and eye rolls. The escalators at the mall aren't quite as scary but I'm still cautious.
