Writers Bloc 3

A strange thing happened on the way downtown today.

I was crossing the street about two blocks from the apartment when I got a big whiff of what smelled like paint thinner. A few blocks later while walking through a park, I could have sworn I smelled brownies (when they just come out of the oven.) If that wasn’t enough, I smelled burning charcoal between a parking garage and an office building a few blocks from the library. No big deal, right? Well, the thing about it was that all the smells were overpowering, but I couldn’t find the source for any of them.

Isn’t this a sign for some sort of mental illness?

I survived Thomas

I really need a T-shirt that says that. For those of you who aren't familiar, Thomas the Tank Engine visits my museum for two weekends every October for Day Out With Thomas. And by weekend, I mean Friday-Sunday, none of that wimpy Saturday and Sunday only weekend stuff.
So for six twelve-hour days, fortunately broken up by four short days of sanity, the museum is accosted by 30,000 toddlers, parents and grandparents, all giddy to see Thomas (or in the parents/grandparents case, giddy for their babies to see Thomas).
Actually, it's kind of a fun to see the kids get so excited, it just makes for some very long days. And it seems like I drop off the face of the planet for two weeks and lose all contact with friends and family, so it's nice to have it over and done, with everything returning to normal.
So anyway, now that I'm back on Planet Earth, what's up with everyone else? I know Lorrie got promoted and Tash had an interview (I've got my fingers crossed for you!), but what about everyone else? Anything interesting?

Think happy thoughts... (Repeat as needed)

Had a job interview today. I think it went well and I was told I have a one in six chance of getting it. I should hear by the end of next week. Keep fingers (and toes) crossed. A whole set of my problems could be solved if this pans out.

Speaking of… Did some math based on what my salary would be if I got the job. That reminded me to pay a few bills and balance my checking accounts. (Yes, accounts plural. Doesn’t mean anything, though.) Let’s just say it put me in a sore mood. Heads up… don’t be surprised if my cell phone eventually gets shut off.

On another note… Have lost all patience for this bug/virus/bacteria/whatever-the-hell it is. In one day’s time I go from nauseous to fine to a headache to fine to achy to fine. The only thing consistent every day is annoyance.

Trying to stay positive. Really.
